Gucci started from humble beginnings. In 1920, founder Guccio Gucci set up shop in Florence featuring his fine leathergood accessories for men and women. Soon thereafter, Guccio and his sons, Aldo, Ugo, Vasco, and Rodolfo, spread the Gucci name to Rome and Milan. By 1953, Gucci made its way to New York City, selling the world famous Gucci classics: hand-crafted handbags with bamboo handles, moccasins with snaffle-bit detailing, trademark G belt buckles, and printed silk foulards and ties. By the late '60s, additional stores appeared in London, Palm Beach, Paris, Beverly Hills, and Tokyo.
When Rodolfo's son, Mauritzio, took control, he based Guccci on his grandfather's motto: ''Stay small to remain great''. With that in mind, he proceeded to cut the Gucci line from over 20,000 items to 5,000 and resurrected the prestigious company's focus on high quality accessories. Fortunately for us, the Gucci collection of fine watches survived.
Presently, Gucci timepieces are modern interpretations of the classic Gucci style. Each watch is an individual commitment to both Swiss precision and good taste. The signature G Series models feature stainless steel construction, scratch-resistant hard metal bezels in the G design, sapphire crystals, and a variety of dial colors. Available in the link bracelet fashion, with push-button, double fold clasps, or the black, patent leather strap. The G Series is offered in mens, womens, and junior sizes. Other dress and sporty designs feature 18 karat gold or stainless steel rotating cases with signature G on casebacks, bracelets with signature Gucci buckle closure, and lizard-embossed leather straps and bangles in a wide variety of colors. Truly the ultimate in timekeeping fashion, Gucci timepieces capture watchmaking art and style at their finest.
